A Night Out in the City - a tale of two worlds

When it comes to going out in New York there are two ways it can go. Completely tourist fun times somewhere mad like Times Square or Achingly cool as most New Yorkers seem to be. Luckily i was honoured to experience both.

When i met up with my UK friends who were also visiting NY, we decided to go to Times Square. Its mind blowing during the day but in the evening it is INSANE! I don't know many bulbs there are or how much electircity they use but it is alot! Wish we had had the time to go up the Empire State building at night because that would have been beautiful too!

When i went out with my friend i was staying with it was more of a typical New Yorker night. Cool bars, a bit of dancing, cab hopping and being 'on the list'. I felt way out of place most of the time, like someone was going to haul me out for not being 'it' enough but i was an amazing experience. Here are the places i was lucky enough to be taken too. P.S yes my friends are 'cool' i'm just waiting for it to rub off on me!

First stop was Pianos on the Lower East Side (website here). Its a bar/restaurant/live music venue and it's kept its sign from the shop that was previously there. A cool crowd hang out here to listen to bands or DJs. I had an amazing margarita here and they did an epic one with raspberry sauce in!

Next we hopped across the road to No Fun (website here). I think the bars here are made to look a bit dark and underground. Its part of the look and appeal to not look like anything much and get away from being all glitzy like Times Square haha. And of course everyone is 'cool', cue me dancing like a drunk crazy person and attracting equally drunk Americans...nice.

My friend has most of the embarrassing photos from this night - if i can manage to get hold of any i will update the post. Our final stop was a cab ride away in Soho, near Broadway. The bar was called Mister H and is meant to be an 'it' place to go. Check out photos of it here.  We had to be 'on the list' or it was a fortune for entry or quadruple that fortune for a table. It was tiny, dimly lit, with a pole dancer (!), and there were model like girls and rich men swanning around. Cue open mouth gaping from me. What a night...
