Red Carpet Manicure - Gel Polish Pro Kit

So my boyfriend got a job at Harvey Nichols just before Christmas which I was totally more excited by than he was. (He called it Harrods for the first week which as we know is totally a different shop!) Don't get me wrong he was over the moon to get a new job and he likes shopping but oh my I LOVE shopping and he was going to be working in an iconic store so I was in out of space!

Due to this perk I can use my female charm to get him to buy me presents and so far one of his best purchases has been my Red Carpet Manicure Gel Polish Pro Kit which I absolutely adore.

I've had manicures like this in Nails Inc before (The 3 Week Manicure) but I haven't been able to afford to go for so long as it was around £50 per go. So when I saw this set and thought I might just have a chance of recreating the magic I leapt at it (or more appropriately my boyfriend!)

The set includes
  • Professional LED Light - LED Gel-Curing Light
  • Prep - Max Adhesion Prep
  • Structure - Base Coat Gel
  • Brilliance - Seal & Shine Top Coat Gel
  • Revitalize - Nourishing Cuticle Oil
  • Red Carpet Reddy - LED Gel Polish
  • Purify - Pre & Post Application Cleanser
  • Erase - Gel Nail Polish Remover
I'm used to doing my own nails so didn't find this kit too hard to master! The instructions are included but once you've done your first manicure then it's not hard to forget the steps. I do one hand at a time (thumb and then fingers) because your nails are tacky in between steps and the smallest particle of dust will find its way to your nails! You have to wait 30 seconds under the light for the base coat and then 45 seconds for the colour and top coat.

I'd definitely recommend this set if you love your colour not chipping. I used to hate having to redo my nails every couple of days because of chips (I'm a bit of a perfectionist). It lasts for around 2 weeks - I tend to do little infill touch ups if my nails are growing fast. My mum has really weak nails and having a strong gel coat helps them grow and keep them a nice length. If you get bored of colours easily then this probably isnt for you but if you like immaculate looking nails then a colour change every 1-2 weeks isnt the end of the world.

I bought a little nail soak bowl from Amazon and a large bottle of Artificial Nail Remover solution from Boots as i find the easiest way to get it off is to just sit there with them in soak. Its tempting to start picking when the polish begins to lift but you will do your nails more harm than good if you follow this route!

So far i have three colours - Red Carpet Reddy - the perfect manicure red. Ooo La Liscious - a gorgeous summery coral. And Paparrazzied - a hot pink which is probably my signature colour in life!
